Visit & Invited Talk:

Dr. Sisir Mondal visited the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang, PR China From April 30 to May 4, 2014. Dr. Mondal has presented an 'invited talk' in the The State Key Laboratory of Ore Deposit Geochemistry (SKLODG) of the Institute of Geochemistry. Details can be found here:

Ria Mukherjee (CSIR Senior Research Fellow & Ph.D. candidate under Dr. Sisir Mondal) has completed a 7 week visit and training in Cardiff University (UK) from June 1 to July 17 under the UKIERI project of Dr. Sisir Mondal and Dr. Hazel Prichard. She has received intense training on SEM-EDS and LA-ICP-MS and has been able to acquire extensive mineralogical and in situ trace element data from Indian samples containing platinum-group minerals and base metal sulfides. These data will be used for the ongoing research project.

Subhra Pratim Bank, UGC Research Scholar under Dr. Sisir Mondal has visited National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad from 21th March to 11th April, 2014. Subhra Pratim has received intense training in the Geochemistry Laboratory and acquired trace element and platinum-group element (PGE) data using ICP-MS.

New Funding Received:

Recently Dr. Sisir Mondal has received a major grant support from the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES-Seismology Division) for a project entitled 'Investigation on Ni-Cu sulfide potential of the Deccan basalt using major, trace and platinum group element geochemistry' under the scientific programme initiated by the Earth System Science Organization (ESSO) - Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, New Delhi with National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad. A total budget grant of INR 41.5 lakhs for two years has been sanctioned to run this project.
